Don’t let vertigo get your head in a spin this Valentine’s Day

Rebecca Nelson, Founder and Spinal Physiotherapy Specialist at Apex Clinic & Apex Headache Clinic discusses getting the correct diagnosis for your vertigo and how for years, the practice has been clearing patients of this debilitating condition for good.

Has vertigo or dizziness got your head in a spin?

Here at Apex Clinic, we have witnessed the devastating effects that vertigo or dizziness can have on the lives of both adults and children. The most common effect is poor balance when walking, a constant feeling of lightheadedness or a sense of ‘being removed’ from the world, which can make normal everyday tasks a chore, and in extreme cases, impossible, with sufferers being confined to their homes.

Getting the correct diagnosis

It is commonly unknown that there are in fact two types of vertigo. Vestibular vertigo stems from an imbalance in the inner ear and is the type of vertigo often attributed to the condition, while cervical vertigo is often overlooked as a source. This is dizziness originating from the upper neck region of the spine, originating from a stiffness or damage of the upper two neck joints of the spine. With this type of vertigo, the person does not usually experience neck pain, only dizziness which is the reason it is frequently misdiagnosed.

In order to clear your vertigo or dizziness, the correct diagnosis is essential. Here, at Apex Clinic we have been successfully treating cervical vertigo for years with our unique regime of manual treatment to the upper neck region.

Richard Ross, 31 year old Electrician, said:

“Suffering from vertigo/dizziness was ruining my life. I felt terrible with dizziness, every minute of every day. It was a feeling as if I had just stepped off a roller coaster ride. It didn’t matter whether I was sitting, standing, or lying down, the dizziness was still there. My balance and perception of things were completed distorted. Every night I had to sleep upright as it was too bad to bear when I lay flat.

After hearing about Apex Headache Clinic, I booked an appointment in desperation. At the first session Rebecca and Nicola diagnosed my vertigo as cervical vertigo. I couldn’t believe that after the first session I started to feel some relief already. I then had a course of treatment and now I feel that my life is back on track. I wish that I had heard of Apex Headache Clinic much sooner, because I had suffered so badly with it for so long.”
