Apex Sleepwell Pillow

The gift of a perfect night’s sleep with the Apex Sleepwell Pillow

In this month’s Ulster Tatler, Apex Clinic Founder and Spinal & Headache Physiotherapy Specialist, Rebecca Nelson, discusses the Apex Sleepwell Pillow range, her very own orthopaedic pillow collection, clinically proven to reduce neck pain and headaches in the majority of cases.

Warning: the wrong pillow can be catastrophic

For over 20 years I have been treating patients suffering from neck and shoulder pain, as well as headaches and migraines and many of these people have disturbed sleep, due to their pain.   What the general population often doesn’t realise, is that a poor soft or flat pillow can often increase or even trigger the onset of their neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches and migraines, arm pain, pins and needles or numbness in the hands and arms, and vertigo or dizziness.

Fighting the war on poor pillows

To combat the devastating effects that poor pillows have on health, the Apex Sleepwell Pillow is my own range of orthopaedic pillows, uniquely designed in thickness and firmness to match individual needs of sleepers according to their build. Each pillow has been technologically innovated to include the latest high-density core that unlike other pillows on the market, runs throughout the pillow’s entire width. It is this central core which offers the precise level of support to ensure the optimum sleeping position for a healthy neck.

Prevention is better than the cure

From children aged seven and adults who are fortunate enough to have never suffered neck pain or headaches, the Apex Sleepwell Pillow is highly recommended to help prevent the onset of neck related pains, as prevention is always better than the cure. Sleeping on a pillow which is too soft or flat causes the neck joints to be compressed and placed under excessive load by the weight of the head. When lying down, the optimum neck position can be achieved by lifting the head very slightly to an angle of between 30 to 45°. This allows the neck joints to open up and is physiologically the best sleeping position for your neck and spine.

Finding your perfect pillow

When it comes to choosing your pillow, size definitely matters. It is essential that your pillow fits your body shape and size to ensure your neck is at the correct angle while you sleep. This is why the Apex Sleepwell range includes a pillow for everyone.

Our three pillow types are dependent on the height/thickness of the pillow. Pillow type H1 is a children’s pillow for seven to 16 years; H2 is a pillow for teenagers (over 16s) and lightly build adults; and H3 is a pillow for average sized people.

Five star reviews for the Apex Sleepwell Pillow

“Goodbye marshmallow pillows! I have always like ‘marshmallow type’ pillows so when I was recommended the Apex pillow to help with a painful shoulder at night, I was not at all keen. I thought it would be far too hard, thus uncomfortable. However, in desperation I decided to give it a go and to my amazement I had my first good night’s sleep in ages. I have had the Apex pillow for well over a year now and can honestly say it has made a real difference to my neck and shoulder. Definitely money well spent.” Julie Handley, Belfast.

“I have had this pillow for a year now. I bought it in Apex and it is an excellent product! No stiff necks, soreness or otherwise, waking up in the morning the pillow has cleared it. Feels nice and firm. Highly recommended.” Myles Gray, Newry.
