Are headaches or migraines destroying your life?

Apex headache clinic founder and spinal physiotherapy specialist, Rebecca Nelson. A former migraine sufferer herself, Rebecca tells us how Apex headache clinic is bringing new hope to many patients who have suffered from long-term headaches and migraines.

Do you suffer from debilitating headaches or migraines?

If you suffer from regular headaches and migraines, you will know how they can really get you down. Many of our patients’ lives have been totally ruined by headaches, leaving them desperate to find a solution that brings relief to their pain. At Apex Headache Clinic, we know from years of treating headaches and migraines, that specialised physiotherapy treatment rather than painkillers can be just the cure you are looking for.

The cure for pain isn’t painkillers

It’s well known that excessive medication makes many headaches worse. In fact, only 50% of migraine sufferers will respond positively to anti-migraine medication in the first instance. Of these patients who do respond to medication, there is a high likelihood that over time, they will become used to the medication and will therefore stop responding to it.

Don’t fall into the trap of medication overuse headaches

It is easy to fall into a cycle of over- medicating to try to relieve painful headaches and migraines. However, medical research advises that you should not take headache medication on more than three days a week. There is also medical research to support that headache and migraine sufferers should avoid taking codeine, such as co-codamol. At Apex Headache Clinic, we tackle and treat pain at its source, reducing the need for patients to rely on tablets which only ever mask the pain.

Headaches and migraines can stem from your neck

Most types of benign headaches and migraines can be triggered from the upper neck joints, even if the person has no neck pain. As well as migraines, this includes tension headaches, cluster headaches and other benign recurring headaches. Poor posture and hours spent hunched over desks and computers, repetitive lifting or damage from a fall, may be the cause of persistent neck-triggered headaches or migraines. The good news is that if there is a neck component to the headache, Apex Headache Clinic should be able to clear your pain.
